4th Cadet Interaction Programme 2026

The Nautical Institute Sri Lanka Branch (NISLB), in collaboration with McLarens Maritime Academy (MMA), successfully conducted the first day of the 4th Cadet Interaction Programme 2026 at the MMA Kandy Campus, bringing together Sri Lanka Navy Cadets, Navy Instructors, and MMA Kandy Cadets for an engaging afternoon of professional learning, collaboration, and networking.

The Cadet Interaction Programme is a professional development initiative designed to strengthen industry engagement, encourage knowledge sharing, and foster meaningful connections among future maritime professionals. By bringing together cadets from different maritime backgrounds, the programme provides participants with opportunities to exchange experiences, develop professional relationships, and gain valuable insights into the maritime industry.

As part of the programme, participants were welcomed to the MMA Kandy Campus and had the opportunity to explore the academy’s facilities while interacting with fellow cadets and instructors. The event also featured an interactive session on the International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea (COLREG), equipping participants with essential knowledge of internationally recognized navigational rules that are fundamental to ensuring safety at sea.

Beyond the technical learning experience, the programme served as a platform for cadets to strengthen communication, teamwork, and professional networking skills—qualities that are essential for successful careers in the global maritime industry.

Speaking through its continued commitment to maritime education, McLarens Maritime Academy remains dedicated to collaborating with leading industry organizations such as the Nautical Institute Sri Lanka Branch (NISLB) to deliver initiatives that bridge education and industry while preparing the next generation of competent, confident, and globally competitive maritime professionals.

The academy extends its appreciation to the Nautical Institute Sri Lanka Branch, the Sri Lanka Navy, the participating Navy Instructors, and all MMA Kandy Cadets for their valuable contribution to the success of the programme. Through partnerships such as these, MMA continues to reinforce its mission of developing skilled maritime professionals who are ready to meet the evolving demands of the global shipping industry.
